Gold Mammary series

Tell you my story

Breast cancer frequently occurs in women around me, including my closest friend, and at the end she had to have her breast removed.

A month later, my friend told me that the surgery was successful, and she recovered well, yet her tone was so calm. I thought, perhaps in one of those evenings when she was scared and huddled up, she would have a moment of stood up and waved her arms to against this unfair cruel fate, and finally coming out the other end as her bravest self.

She then went on to chemotherapy, which resulted in all her hair falling off.

Later, she had breast reconstruction surgery, and when she showed me her new breast, I saw a golden flower blooming on her breast. With no deliberate thinking, this was the motivation for creating my first work- “Golden Mammary” . This work is my expression towards her, to tell her that she is unique, irreplaceable and brilliantly beautiful.
